chel's story

I began party planning as a child. Growing up in a large extended family, almost every weekend we would gather and there was always something or someone to be celebrated. With the guidance of my Grandmother Eliza (Lola), our matriarch, and I her little helper, I learned from the best the importance of creative event planning - sometimes even with the most modest of budgets. No one was ever the wiser. We were able to feed and entertain friends and family alike – everyone happy, all of us together, fond memories made.

Later as a young adult, armed with the priceless knowledge given by Lola and with formal studies in public relations and corporate communications, I ventured out into the corporate events world - working on large scale projects such as organizing charity walk/runs and golf tournaments and in my wheel house of planning formal and elaborate galas. Surprisingly, it was through the smaller grass root events - employee appreciation BBQs, community holiday celebrations and donor recognition initiatives - where I rediscovered my niche. Those types of events were about the people. Individuals I was lucky enough to get to know, each on a personal level - celebrating them was my honour and my pleasure.

Dedicated to continuing education and staying ahead of trends, I am frequently attending seminars and conferences. Courses such as advanced cake decorating, floral arrangment fundementals, and a wedding coordinator certification with the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada, help me give my clients the best in comprehensive service. The learning never stops - and Iove it!

After almost 20 years in the industry, now concentrating primarily on private events, I still follow the same mantra of “my clients are like family” and I attribute any success I may have to this. Every project – extravagant or simply intimate - is treated with the same attention-to-detail and enthusiastic consideration. Nothing gives me more joy than turning one's vision into their reality.
